Sun Disc: string art pattern

A circle of 36 nails on a 60 × 60 cm board, strung entirely with the forward and back technique. Each layer uses a slightly shorter skip than the one before, and that opens the disc of color outward.

  • Circle: compass set to 27 cm
  • Between nails: 4.7 cm with the compass, or every 10° with the protractor
  • A board measuring 60 × 60 cm, painted.
  • 36 nails.
  • String in white, thick (perle cotton): about 43 m.
  • String in red, thick (perle cotton): about 43 m.
  • String in orange, thick (perle cotton): about 42 m.
  • String in yellow, thick (perle cotton): about 41 m.
  • String in green, thick (perle cotton): about 40 m.
  • String in blue, thick (perle cotton): about 38 m.
  • The meters include 10% extra for knots and turns around the nails.
